In Norway, children up to the age of 18 are entitled to free dental treatment in the public dental health service. Young people aged 19-20 have the right to 75 percent of the dental treatment covered. People with mental retardation, and people who have lived in an institution or have had home nursing care for at least three consecutive months, are also entitled to free dental treatment.
Adults over the age of 20 must mainly pay for dental health services themselves, but certain diseases and conditions also entitle people over the age of 20 under the National Insurance Act.
The county municipalities are in the process of establishing a dental treatment offer for people who have been subjected to torture, abuse or who have odontophobia. Contact your county municipality to hear more about the offer.
